Dear Family and Friends,
As you all know I had the privilege of participating in a life growing event during college. In support of Push America, a philanthropy that raises money and awareness for people with disabilities, I bicycled across the county during the summers of 1997 and 1999 in an event called the Journey of Hope. I signed up in 1997 for the challenge?could I ride my bike across the country? What an accomplishment that would be and raising money for a great cause as well. I wanted to do it. By the end of the summer my perspective had changed. Spending days on the bike and evenings with people we were cycling for had a powerful impact on my life. How could I love someone I just met? How could their abounding joy bring me to tears? I was overwhelmed with their magnitude of contentment. Why did I want to do everything for these individuals that desired nothing other than time and attention? In 1999 I needed to do it again.
2012 marks the 25th Anniversary of Journey of Hope and I am blessed to be able to participate in this amazing ride once again. I will join the team on August 2nd and ride along the last 3 days until the journey is complete at the capital steps of Washington DC on Sunday, August 5th. I am looking forward to being a part of this amazing event again. This organization shapes young college men into leaders that will impact their communities by giving of themselves for the sake of others. I appreciate a donation of any amount as I strive to reach my $750 fundraising goal to further the mission of Push America. You can also support this event with your prayers.
- Please pray for the safety of these men as their journey has already begun on the West Coast.
- Pray that these men would come to know our Creator more intimately as they marvel at the beauty of His wonderful creation from the seat of a bicycle.
- Pray that God is glorified through the friendship visits with the cyclist and the disabled.
- Pray that I may be light for those who don't know Jesus.
I'm thankful for your support and prayers.
